In A Far Cry’s annual Side by Side, the Criers partner with students from Project STEP and New England Conservatory for a joyous performance celebrating the next generation of artists—and the mentors, teachers, families, and friends who help them grow.

This year’s program, Absolute Cinema, explores another influential force that shapes us: music’s pivotal role in the stories we tell on screen and beyond. From Toru Takemitsu’s atmospheric Three Film Scores to Harold Arlen’s iconic Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this program draws focus on music’s ability to transport us, define moments, and stay with us for a lifetime. The concert also features a world premiere commission by Quinn Mason alongside Korngold’s lush and cinematic Symphonic Serenade.

With a special 5:00pm start time, Absolute Cinema invites audiences of all ages to make an evening of it—bringing families, students, teachers, and music lovers together to celebrate the next generation of artists and the stories that connect us all.
