Anne Offen-5.jpg

Anne Offen

Anne Offen is a self-taught painter and aspiring writer, currently studying creative writing at Emerson College. She uses primarily acrylic, watercolors, and glue to create her contemporary abstract paintings. As a queer and differently abled artist, her work is a challenge to the “able” world that people who are differently abled are not a burden, but an asset, to society. Offen began to pursue painting in earnest in 2017 after being injured in an accident . While she has since made a full recovery, she was forced to put her plans on hold while she recovered, allowing her to begin experimenting with different artistic techniques. In the future, Offen hopes to continue to use her artistic skills to show that different doesn't mean less than.

Jamaul Smith- HeadShot.jpeg

Jamaul Smith

Marketing artist Jamaul Smith found his passion for Art in 3rd Grade. Jamaul followed this passion to Syracuse University, where he earned a degree in Illustration. Growing up between New Mexico and the Maryland-DC area, Jamaul's artistic style developed into a mashup of West & East Coast influences. Urban landscapes, like those found around his new hometown of Boston, collide with signature stylistic elements (like 90s-styled cars, trucks, and classic bicycles). Sprinkled with culturally relevant hangouts influenced by each city he called home. They mingle with traditional and digital methods to capture the proud African, Caribbean, and Latinx heritage within the African Diaspora. Black women take center stage in each skillfully crafted vignette. He has worked with many notable brands, including Adidas, Boost Mobile, Puma, the National Black Caucus, etc. Various book illustrations, apparel designs, numerous art shows, commission pieces, and passion projects round out his Artist's resume. Jamaul is the artistic muscle that brings several brands' creative visions to life.

S. T. Gately

I am a 2D Visual Artist and k-8 Art Teacher. I received my BA at Hampshire College in Comparative Religion and Visual Art. I earned my M. ED at Lesley University in Teaching Visual Art. I have lived in Boston for fifteen years and I have never lived anywhere besides Massachusetts. I am an artist who uses line and color to express my emotions about a variety of issues, both personally and globally. I am heavily influenced by the symbolism inherent in graffiti, as well as religious iconography of every culture. Using these references for my art, I strive to create my own systems of symbols to visually communicate with the world.
